Well, I cannot find the camera charger and the battery is dead. So this week’s “Verse of the Week” is brought to you via the blog.
*Imagine the music playing along as you read this*
Psalm 37:23-24
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
Life was just starting to feel somewhat settled in the new apartment when suddenly, I realized some big decisions are coming up as my maternity leave nears its end. I have spent plenty of time going over options, desires, discussing our family goals with George-Anthony; every time I think i have clarity, something changes. Again.
This week I sat and wrote out my thoughts about it all to God. I was telling Him how I feel like I am lacking direction in what to do, and how this one decisions seems to be accompanied by so many other little ones. You want to know what he told me? To focus on Him and He would guide my steps. So that is what I am having to do. I have no idea what life will look like in five weeks, but I know God has never left me alone when I have needed His guidance. So I trust wholeheartedly that He will again light my path when it is time.
If you have been around the channel long enough, you know that I like control, I like knowing plans ahead of time and having backup plans ‘just in case’ something goes wrong. So although I have gotten really good at trust in God for guidance and provision, it is still hard to feel like a big thing is coming at me and I do not have a plan of action to confront it with.
“Knowing what steps to take in our lives is the fruit of our delight in Him.”
“Saber qué pasos tomar en nuestra vida es el fruto de nuestro deleite en Él.”
Which brings me to this truth: My (and your) job is not to figure out where our lives need to go, what direction we should be walking in, what goal or opportunity we need to pursue or let go of. Our job is to be delighting in our God, in the goodness that is His everlasting love and care for us. Knowing what steps to take in our lives is the fruit of our delight in Him; as we remain open and connected to His voice, then we will never feel abandoned or forgotten, even when we make mistakes or act before He asks us to.
Is there an area of your life that you need to stop making plans and backup plans for, and instead choose to surrender it to God’s will and guidance? Let’s do that now, together.
Father, thank you for walking alongside us. Thank you for holding us firmly in the palm of your hand, for not letting go of us even when we choose to act against your will or call in our lives. Father, I pray that you would be so apparent in the lives of those surrendering situations to you. Father, I pray you would bring peace and grace in the waiting, as we choose to stand until we hear your call to walk on-wards. Thank you for being such a loving God, and for always being present in our times if need. In your name we pray, Amen.
Let’s hope I find my charger for next week; until then, stay safe, talk to God about your worries, and be blessed!
